About Us

Our Story

In June, 1955 when orange groves still dominated the landscape in the Pomona & San Gabriel Valleys, 15 weavers gathered to celebrate their craft & thus the Bobbinwinders Guild had its first meeting. It soon developed into a vital organization that furthered the craft, but also contributed to its community. Among the activities established and promoted by the guild were traveling exhibits, guest speakers, field trips, auctions, participation in community artistic events, social affairs including teas, and retreats to nearby mountains and beaches.

Our Purpose

To bring together those interested in handweaving throughout the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys for the purpose of exchanging ideas and developing a finer understanding and appreciation of the techniques and beauty of handweaving.

What We Offer

The Guild presents a great variety of programs, including guest artists, at each of its monthly meetings who demonstrate or lecture about their work or offer hands-on workshops.

  • Our service projects extend to local schools, harvest festivals, fairs and fiber festivals.
  • New projects include gallery exhibits and demonstrations in our local community.
  • Our Guild offers a scholarship to foster education in the fiber arts.

Our unique traditions continue: a member hosted hot lunch served at every meeting and members receive a weaving draft and fabric sample with each monthly newsletter.
